To Whom It May Concern:

Council adopted the Waterfuture Strategy in 2004 to ensure security of our water supplies into the future. The Pressure and Leakage Management (P&LM) program is one of the Waterfuture Initiatives aimed at reducing water demand. High water pressure is the major cause of pipe bursts, water loss and leakage and previous P&LM trials on the Gold Coast have resulted in water savings of more than 10%, and reduced pipes breaks and leakage by about 80%. In line with this strategy, we are about to start pressure management initiatives in the Olsen Avenue District Metered Area (DMA) incorporating the street names in the schedule on the reverse of this notice. The first phase of the project will begin on 20 February, 2007.

During the first phase it will be necessary for Gold Coast Water crews to temporarily shutdown water supply for a short period of up to 30 minutes. To limit inconvenience to customers this will occur between 12.30am and 4.00am on:

• Tuesday 20 February 2007 and
• Wednesday 21 February 2007 weather permitting.

Should inclement weather or technical difficulties not allow us to proceed with the shutdown on one of the dates above it will occur on:

• Thursday 22 February 2007 and
• Friday 23 February 2007.

Should we require to shutdown your water supply for any period of time other than that mentioned above you will receive separate notification at least 48 hours in advance. (238 words)
